Your Most Important Wedding Guest

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011 Weddings 1 Comment

As you consider those who you would like to invite to witness one of the most important days of your life, those that are the closest to you are likely to come to mind first. For many Brides and Grooms, that also includes a family pet!

We’ve hosted numerous weddings incorporating loveable furballs in the ceremony and portrait sessions including dogs and cats as “Ringbearers,”  “Flowerpets” or even standing in as the occasional “Best Pet” and “Pet of Honor!”

Here are two of our favorite pictures:

Please feel free to share with us your family pet wedding pictures at info@langhamhuntingtonweddings.com and we’ll add them to this post!

Here are some pictures of the adorable Little Bear, sent in by Julie & Joseph who were wed here last December:

Wedding Manners Matters

Friday, March 25th, 2011 Weddings No Comments

This month, the online Weddings and Celebrations pages of The New York Times introduced a feature called The Well-Mannered Wedding. Peggy Post, a director of the Emily Post Institute and the great-granddaughter-in-law of its namesake, answers readers’ questions on the topic. The institute, based in Burlington, Vt., maintains and updates the etiquette advice of Emily Post, publishes books by the founders’ heirs and presents seminars.

Readers can submit their questions to weddingmanners@nytimes.com, or by regular mail to The New York Times, Society News Desk, Fourth Floor, 620 Eighth Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10018. Include daytime and evening telephone numbers so that Ms. Post and editors at The Times may follow up.

Here is a sample question:

The day before the wedding of a childhood friend, I came down with the stomach flu, so I had to cancel. I had, however, mailed the couple a gift worth $200. Three weeks after the ceremony, I received not a thank-you note, but a bill for the presumably per-person cost of food and liquor my date and I would have consumed at the reception. Do I have to pay this?

To read Emily’s column in the New York Times, please visit: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/04/fashion/weddings/04WELLMANNERED.html?_r=2&ref=style

Real Wedding: Joann & Donald

Thursday, March 24th, 2011 Weddings No Comments

Just wanted to share a thank you note from newlyweds Joann & Donald who were recently married here at The Langham in February:

Hi Laura,

Donald and I both want to thank you for the SUPERB job you and your team did on Saturday. Except for the rain, everything went as planned.  The cocktail hour was lively, the cake looked exactly like what we talked about and we had a fabulous time dancing the night away.  I just want to say thank you for making this whole experience as stress-free as it could possibly be. You were always available when I needed you and I do feel you genuinely care about what you do!

Please extend my thanks to the entire Langham team who had a hand in making our soiree so wonderful. The staff went above and beyond….even RE-MAKING the items in our wedding buffet for me and Donald to enjoy after hours.

Thank you! The Langham has a great reputation, but you’ve certainly exceeded our expectations.

Joann

Even with the weather, Joann & Donald had an amazing, memorable, beautiful wedding! Check out some of their pictures below. Congratulations Joann & Donald!

Real Wedding: Ramona & Aaron

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 Weddings No Comments

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of working with Aaron and Ramona on their wedding day. This couple is by far one of the sweetest, most genuine couples I have ever come across and it was truly a wonderful celebration enjoyed by all.

I cannot wait to receive the professional photos from this wedding as I am sure that photographer, Stephanie Betesh, captured some wonderful images. I will be sure to share them once they are available as the pictures I captured at the event do not do it justice by any means.

The ceremony out in the Horseshoe Garden was absolutely gorgeous. The wedding party made their way down the grand staircase, and met before a large wrought iron gate complete with a floral chandelier. They then proceed down the elegant white carpet lined with cherry blossoms, candles and flower petals until they reached the stunning chuppa.

An elegant Persian fruit and Pastry display adorned the Huntington Ballroom Foyer and enticed guests as they entered the ballroom for the wedding reception.

The Huntington Ballroom looked stunning with a soft pink color scheme with accents of gold. There were cherry blossoms throughout the entire ballroom and it simply looked incredible.

I loved their table numbers which featured a variety of photos of the lovely couple. It was such a unique twist to the standard table number and looked amazing in the room!

Their cake was beautiful and again incorporated the theme of cherry blossoms throughout the celebration.

There were so many unique and interesting aspects of this wedding that I simply did not have time to capture them all. It was absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait for the photographer to post the photos.

I am so happy to be a part of Aaron and Ramona’s special day and wish them all of the happiness in the world! They deserve it!

Sweet Surrender Dessert Stations

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011 Weddings No Comments

Thank you for the great response we’ve received so far regarding our new weddings website! There are so many exciting things happening in regards to weddings here at The Langham, one of them being the new weddings dessert station menu we’ve created called “Sweet Surrender!”

http://langhamhuntingtonweddings.com/menus/Sweet%20Surrender.pdf

Over the years, our talented Pastry Chefs have worked in conjunction with our savvy Brides to customize many different delectable creations that led to our “Sweet Surrender” menu. Nothing excites wedding guests more than seeing a mouth watering display of sweet treats revealed at the end of a meal, which they can help themselves to as much of or as little of as they’d like! Paired in conjunction with a smaller wedding cake that the Bride and Groom may cut for ceremonial purposes, a dessert station is a great alternative to surprise and delight your guests.

Keep in mind that like all of our menus, “Sweet Surrender” is just a sampling of what our Pastry Chefs can offer, and we can bring any of your culinary dreams to fruition. Take a look at these yummy photos of a Langham weddings dessert station where the happy couple brought in their own white milk pedestal cake stands and personal photos to customize with the look of their wedding décor. Sweet indeed!

What are some of your favorite dessert items?
