The hotel co-hosted a tea today in conjunction with Eddie Zaratsian, Creative Director for tic-tock Couture Florals. Our invited guests included over 70 luxury wedding planners. I just have to say that working with Eddie and his team of professionals and the amazing vendor partners who contributed to the event’s success transformed a “nice party” into a most memorable event! More exciting photos from the day will follow!
I wanted to share with you one of my favorite blogs called Plan My Wedding, which is featured on the LA Times Magazine website! Plan My Wedding is a fun blog which follows a bride, Allison, on her journey to her wedding day. Readers get to help Allison make some of her wedding decisions by casting votes. Allison also posts some really cute and creative wedding ideas. The below post talks about hosting the perfect bridal shower. It’s a great topic and I thought the Q&A’s were really helpful for you brides (and mothers of the brides!).
Let me know what you think about Plan My Wedding, and feel free to share some of your other favorite wedding blogs with us!
When couples start their wedding plans and start focusing on setting the stage for their wedding reception, many will think of specialty linens, beautiful floral arrangements, rental chairs (chiavari, chameleon, etc.), which deejay to use, etc. However, there is one aspect to creating the ambience of a wedding which I think is very important and enhances all items listed above…SPECIALTY LIGHTING!
As you can see, the pictures below showcase how lighting can really set the tone for a memorable first impression. The lighting will also enhance all the details in your wedding photos.
If you are working with a tight budget and cannot get the most glamorous wedding venue, you can always spruce up a simple banquet hall with vibrant colors. There are a lot of types of specialty lighting, but here are some of the more popular ones:
Pin Spot Lighting – Used to highlight floral arrangements on the tables or the wedding cake table.
Gobo Lighting – Used to shine a logo or the couple’s new initials on the dance floor.
Uplights - A great way to implement your wedding colors onto the ballroom walls
Washes – Lighting that covers a large area such as the ceiling. You can also place images on the washes as shown below.
Have you thought about adding specialty lighting to your wedding?
Ceremony Magazine recently did a photo shoot at our hotel for an upcoming issue. Check out the video from the shoot below, which was posted on CaliforniaWeddingWave.com!
Last November I had the pleasure of working with Jimmishea and Josh, who I think chose some amazing colors for their bridal party and florals! The bright colors of orange, red, purple and yellow all came together to transform the Georgian Ballroom into a tropical getaway. Here are some photos from their wedding, taken by Ian Evenstar Photography.
One of the most popular wedding trends that we are seeing right now is of course, The French Macaron. Our couples just can’t seem to get enough of these little pieces of heaven.
Although, the Macaron is fairly simple in terms of the number of ingredients, the technique can be hard to perfect with the delicate crisp shell, giving way to the chewy cake like center and delicious fillings. Our wonderful Pastry Chefs here at the Langham have in fact perfected the Macaron and are more than happy to customize any flavors or colors that you can think of. The possibilities are endless!
Whether you envision giving these bite-size goodies away as wedding favors…
Or possibly incorporating them into your wedding cake…
Or maybe offering these versatile treats as a midnight snack or part of a unique dessert display…
(Perhaps customizing elements from our new Sweet Surrender Dessert Menu?)
With such a wide range of colors and flavors these little charmers have the staying power as continuing on as a top wedding trend in 2011. How will you incorporate them into your wedding?
Lidia and Ricardo were married here at The Langham over July 4th weekend last year and we are thrilled that their wedding is featured in the latest issue of Serendipity Magazine! Not only do we adore this couple, the bridal gown and candy station, but of course their use of one of Langham’s signature colors: PINK!
We hope you are inspired for your own wedding when viewing the collection of images from Lidia and Ricardo’s special day.
