Wedding Cake Bling
I received this picture from a recent wedding that I had the pleasure of working on, and loved the style they chose for their wedding cake so much I had to share! I love that they layered the crystal ribbon over the pink ribbon to soften the crystals and create an elegant bling look. The cake was also enhanced by a crystal beaded cake stand, specialty linen for the cake table with small beads and crystals, and matching crystal beaded votives as added decor. It is a beautiful cake table that matched an even more amazing wedding!

A Wedding Portrait to Remember
Earlier in the year I told you about a bride & groom who were looking for a unique element to add to their wedding, and found an artist who paints live during the reception. I’m happy to report that that bride & groom, Lindsey & Steve, are now happily married and have a beautiful painting to remember their amazing wedding by!
This very special portrait was done exclusively for Lindsey & Steve while they were dancing their very first dance as Husband and Wife. Agnes Csiszar Russo, an amazing live artist, captured the look of love and romance. What a very special remembrance! It truly was an incredible night and the portrait portrays the beauty of their day, not to mention an amazing couple!
Here’s a letter from Lindsey & Steve:
Hi Christie!
Thank you for giving us the perfect day, a day unlike any other, a historical moment in our lives that we will remember as long as we live. As you know well, weddings are an important day not only for the couple, but for the families, and I wanted to let you know that our families were just as happy with everything as we were, and our guests all loved their stay at the Langham.
It was the wedding of our dreams, the best day of our lives, and much of that is thanks to you and all of your hard work. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Lindsey & Steve
I was so honored to be a part of their special day!

Signature Cocktails
One trend that seems to be here to stay is the signature cocktail; which is great since everyone knows the best part of any good party is the bar!
To get started on planning your signature drink, think about what you and your honey love to drink when you go out. Signature cocktails can be made with any liquor, so you can just add your own twist to the alcohol you’re already serving. I always enjoy a wedding theme name for the drink – like the Lindstini or Monica-jito!
Here are a few of my favorite news ideas, which I found on the Martha Stewart Weddings website:
Cucumber-Mint Gimlet
Serve the ultimate country-club libation: gimlets. Swap out vodka and Rose’s lime juice for cucumber gin, fresh lime, and simple syrup tinged with mint.
Starlight Royale
A delicious concoction of gin, lime juice, and Champagne topped off with a splash of grenadine for a pink glow. Dip the rim in lime juice and fine sanding sugar for a 1-inch-wide band of sparkle!

Pomegranate Caipiroska
A sprinkling of the fruit’s juicy seeds adds bright flavor to vodka, lime, seltzer, and sugar.

Grapefruit-and-Mint Mojito
Is anything more refreshing than a minty mojito? Yep, a grapefruit and mint one! Just add ruby-red grapefruit to the mix for a sweet-and-sour twist.

And don’t forget your monogrammed cocktail napkins!

Newlymaid
Have you ever wondered what you should do with all of those bridesmaid dresses hanging in your closet? It doesn’t matter what the bride associated with each of those dresses said, you secretly knew that you would never wear it again. Another couple hundred dollars down the drain.
Well ladies, I’ve found something that could put those bridesmaid dresses to good use. There is a website, Newlymaid, where you can trade in your bridesmaids dress (or mother of the bride, social occasion and prom dresses) for a credit towards the purchase of a new little black dress! You simply go to the website, create an account, choose your new dress, and mail your bridesmaids dress back upon receipt of your new dress! And they have all kinds of styles to choose, from work appropriate to going out on the town fun!

What a cool and interesting way to make good use out of all those old bridesmaid dresses. And the company either recycles the dresses, or donates them to charity, so it’s for a good cause too!
Take a look at the website and see for yourself.
Happy Shopping!

DeBois Productions
DeBois Productions, an LA based music and Entertainment Company, is one of our amazing vendor partners that we absolutely love. They offer some of the most memorable & exciting DJs, dance bands and specialty acts for weddings and events that we’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years.

DeBois has recently updated their website so now you can even audition dance bands online! Plus, they have a new Ceremony and Cocktails section where you can listen to sounds to consider for your processional, recessional and cocktail reception.
Specialty acts in the form of “Dancing with the Stars” exhibitions and belly dancers have become increasingly popular for weddings lately. Entertain your guests with the unexpected and they will be talking about your wedding for months after!

And yes, you can have Cirque performers in our Huntington Ballroom!

Engagement Photos
I’ll admit it – I love (LOVE) engagement photos! I love the creative use of space, the carefree and joyful looks of love on the couples; the moments of pure bliss captured before the wedding planning takes over and conversations turn to chicken or beef and ivory or champagne linens…
I was lucky enough to run across this amazing engagement session (courtesy of the fabulous Callaway Gable) and I’d love to share them with you. I love the bride’s striped dress and red shoes in the first set and that purple is gorgeous!

Happy Feet
Your vows have been exchanged, the dinner consumed, and now it’s time to hit the dance floor! At this point, your feet may be killing you, but the night has only just begun. What are you to do?!
In recent years, the trend has been to change into flip-flops, which definitely help with the feet aching. However, I’ve come across a flip-flop alternative that I think is absolutely adorable – TOMS shoes! TOMS now has a bridal line which includes all kinds of styles such as cute wedges and sparkly shoes, in all different colors. They’re perfect for both you and your bridal party.
And if you didn’t already know, with each pair of shoes purchased, TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need. How great is that?! So your dollars go to a great cause and your feet are happy too! It’s a win-win all around.
Take a look at their bridal line at http://www.toms.com/wedding and be confident that you can still look pretty while dancing the night away in comfort.

Please Be Seated
Event rental companies offer endless choices for chair rentals. These companies strive to not only keep current with trends, but to stay in front of the “curve” by setting the trends for us to follow.
Chairs are one of the most frequently ordered items for events. In our metropolis we are especially fortunate to have the entertainment industry right in our backyard, so everything is at our finger tips. Whatever you can dream, probably already exists.
Town and Country Event Rentals just added Bentwood Chairs to their inventory, which are perfect for your French bistro theme, especially when paired with their natural raw linen and a crisp white hemstich napkin. Classic!
Chiavari chairs are the most prevalent in the rental market and come in a variety of finishes – fruitwood, mahogany, gold, silver, white, clear acrylic, distressed, and natural to name a few. You’ll want to select your cushion fabric and colors to coordinate with your table linens.

Technicolor Chiavari (apple green, eggplant, tomato red, French lilac, butter cup and tiffany blue), by Town and Country Event Rentals
Maybe you want to stretch your imagination just a little and consider a bold statement such as this hot pink number by Chameleon Chairs.
Consider this regal look…
Or tailored one…
Perhaps whimsical may become you…
Maybe your style is more contemporary…
Or contemporary, yet oh so feminine…
With so many options and possibilities available, you’re sure to find the perfect chair to match your dream wedding.
